What Is an IES File and Why Does It Matter in LED Lighting Projects?

In large-scale LED lighting projects, buyers often compare several basic specifications first:

  • Wattage
  • Lumens
  • Luminous efficacy
  • Beam angle

However, two LED fixtures with similar wattage and lumen output can produce completely different lighting results after installation.

The reason is simple:

How much light a fixture produces is not the same as where that light actually goes.
